Made in Como
Here at “Todeschini Como” we are excited to be among some of Northern Italy’s most popular brands and icons of design, craftsmanship, and business.
“B&B Italia” with its worshiped world-famous furniture by Gaetano Pesce, Mario Bellini, Antonio Citterio and Patricia Urquiola included. “Clerici Tessuto” has existed since 1922 and still is a unique producer of the finest silk, cashmere, and golden lame. Legendary “MOTO GUZZI,” working non-stop since 1921. Jewelers in two generations “Zanotti Orafo” and even one of the biggest global kid brands “Chicco”, which manufactures goods necessary for taking care of a child from pregnancy up to entering school.
Where “Rocco and his Brothers” met James Bond and others
No wonder that talents and ideas spring up and thrive here in picturesque Northern Italy.
Lake Como has been named the most beautiful lake not only among Italian lakes but all over the world numerous times by experts, geographical societies, and magazines.
The topography of Lake Como, one of the best places to understand what pure beauty is, not only in Italy but perhaps on earth, can be perfectly seen in the last scene of the movie “Casino Royale.” A camera from a helicopter zooms into a villa on the shore of the lake, and, amid all this incredible natural and human-made harmony, Bond calmly settles scores with the person responsible for the death of Vesper Lind on the stairs of Villa La Gaeta.
And if to characterize Lago di Como in three words, let them be villas, nature, and tranquility. And any of them is luxury.
Unsurprisingly, the place speaks much to producers, filmmakers, and advertising directors. The gorgeous landscapes of the lake have been home to numerous iconic film scenes. “Rocco and His Brothers”, “Once in America”, “Star Wars”, ” Ocean’s Twelve”, already mentioned “Casino Royale”, and others.
Luxury villas, sweeping hillsides, magnificent mountain views, and the lake’s deep blue waters enchanted producers and have hosted not only movie shooting but advertising campaigns: Dolce and Gabbana; A. Lange & Söhne, the German boutique watch brand; Philipp Plein; Hermès; Nespresso (with George Clooney, of course); Saint Laurent; and Versace.
Siblings of Architecture
The famous designer Gianfranco Ferre once said, “I started my career in fashion with accessories. It has always been easy for me to create them, because, initially, I am an architect. Whatever I did – a belt, a necklace, or earrings, subconsciously I started from some favorite building or just an architectural element.”
Here, in Comо, when all these stunning examples of architecture and botanic gardens surround you, there is no chance to avoid its influence while creating our collections.
The clear lines of the historic Villa Balbiano with its luxurious regular park, which the world’s celebrities rent for weddings; the picturesque Villa del Balbianello; the legendary Villa Carlotta; an amazing eclectic Villa Monastero, built on the site of a nunnery;
an extravagant Villa Olmo and the pearl of Bellagio neoclassical Villa Melzi.
So, creating our leather belts, especially when choosing the сolors and shades, we have a fantastic palette, time-tested by nature and the taste of the great architects of the past.
For example, in our latest collection, if you look closely, the color and texture of the exquisite gray ray leather belt are reminiscent of the old gray stone of the central entrance to Villa Balbiano. And the incredible blue shades of the crocodile belt are the exact ones of the lake in July and August.
Keep in Touch with Como
Many of our clients have been to Como, Bellagio and Varenna. Some of them more than once.
They visited magnificent villas, lived in luxury hotels, and dined in gourmet restaurants.
Maybe, they went to the Medieval Castello di Vezio, which towers over the city of Varenna, and even took pictures with gauze ghosts inhabiting the observation tower and fragments of the fortress walls.
Probably, they traveled to the only island on the lake, Isola Comacina, where the classic of Italian literature Alessandro Manzoni lived in the Villa Rachele Beccaria. (A funny fact along the same lines. Most people who are into fashion and have been to Milan know Alessandro Manzoni. There’s a street named after him where the Armani boutique and Armani Hotel are located.)
But even if our clients have never been to Lake Como and its delightful surroundings, we are always ready to send them a piece of beauty and luxury. Luxury from Como is not flashy. It is calm and elegant, like old villas and their former aristocratic inhabitants. It is confident and almost flawless, like James Bond.
We know, for sure, that life is better with our accessories because they carry the warmth of the hands and the ideas of people living in absolute beauty day by day.
